Secondary School Places Allocation 2025/2027

The cycle is confirmed, but the complete 2027 application, choice, result and registration timetable for parents is not yet on the EDB general page. This guide publishes only facts already supported by primary sources.

Detailed 2027 timetable: not publishedThe EDB general page still presents the 2024/2026 cycle. January, March, April-May and July 2026 dates must not be projected into 2027.

Three routes that must stay separate

  1. DP at participating schools: Eligible students may apply to no more than two participating secondary schools without district restriction. Exact submission dates await the 2025/2027 handbook.
  2. Non-participating DSS: Schools set their own dates and arrangements. The official 2025/2027 list is pending, so DSS category alone cannot establish non-participation.
  3. Central Allocation: Choice dates, Part A and Part B school lists, results and registration await the annual EDB documents.

The circular's date window is not the general application period

Applicability restrictionThe early-December-2026 to mid-January-2027 window applies only to relevant students from non-participating primary schools visiting EDB for eligibility procedures and forms/activation codes. It is not the general DP application period.

Five core SSPA guides

Each guide states its source year, applicability boundary and EDB evidence.

S1 Discretionary Places: separate application, successful notification and allocation

An EDB-sourced guide to S1 Discretionary Places: the two-school limit, preference order, admission criteria, interviews, successful-applicant notification and Central Allocation fallback.

Read guide

Part A is unrestricted by school net, but choices are still processed in order

Understand Central Allocation Part A: up to three unrestricted choices, about 10% of CA places, Territory Bands, preference order and random numbers.

Read guide

Part B is processed by school net, so order and choice coverage both matter

Understand Central Allocation Part B: school-net rules, up to 30 choices, about 90% of CA places, Net Bands, random numbers and choice-form risks.

Read guide

DSS does not automatically mean non-participating, and accepting a place is not merely holding a backup

Understand non-participating DSS secondary schools: school-specific applications, the annual official list, application limits, acceptance documents and consequences for subsidised S1 allocation.

Read guide

eSSPA supports submission, but a draft, upload or successful login is not a filed application

Understand eSSPA accounts, activation codes, iAM Smart+, electronic DP and CA submission, duplicate applications, drafts and acknowledgements.

Frequently asked questions

Has SSPA 2025/2027 been confirmed?

Has the exact 2027 DP application period been published?

The complete 2025/2027 parent timetable is not yet published on the EDB SSPA general page. The 2026 dates must not be carried forward.

How many participating secondary schools may be selected for DP?

The EDB circular confirms no more than two, without district restriction. Submission dates and procedures still require the formal 2025/2027 documents.

Do non-participating DSS schools share one application period?

No. These schools set their own application periods and administrative arrangements, which must be verified school by school.
