Source hierarchy

1. EDB circulars, handbooks, lists and parent notes for system rules, cycles and annual dates.
2. CHSC Secondary School Profiles open data for school facts, fees, language policy and facilities.
3. Individual official school websites for that school's 2027 applications, briefings, interviews, results and registration.
4. Third-party banding or rankings may support non-official discovery only after source, year, methodology and republication-rights checks.

How bilingual records are joined

Traditional Chinese and English CSVs are joined only where telephone, normalized official website and founded year match exactly. All 441 keys are unique; fuzzy matching is prohibited.

How through-train, direct and linked primary schools are matched

Relationship types come only from the official 2025 Primary School Profiles and are joined to this site's locked roster of 441 official 2025/26 Secondary School Profiles. Fuzzy school-name matching is prohibited.

• The current release links 30 primary-secondary profile pairs: 28 exact Traditional Chinese names, 1 self-reference and 1 manually reviewed character-variant alias.
• 國際基督教優質音樂中學暨小學 has no exact standalone secondary target in the locked roster, so no inferred link is created.
• A relationship label does not mean automatic progression, guaranteed places, admission probability or a 2027 arrangement. Families must verify current eligibility and places with both schools.

Years never overwrite each other

• 2025/2027: allocation cycle; framework confirmed, detailed parent timetable pending.
• 2025/26: official school-profile edition, generally reflecting September 2025 facts.
• September 2026: the intake covered by each profile's S1 admission field.
• September 2027: the target intake being tracked; dates and routes require new official evidence.

Date publication rules

Only an exact date applicable to SSPA 2025/2027 and linked to an EDB or school official source can enter the timeline or calendar. Approximate months, prior-cycle dates, briefings, interviews, results, registration and application deadlines remain different event types.

How the 2026 academic estimate is calculated

The model primarily uses the same 441 official profiles and adds a capped public-attention proxy from recent median daily views for exact or redirected Chinese Wikipedia articles. It does not read or copy Schooland, BigExam or other third-party school-level band labels. AI assists source classification and methodology design; each score follows published deterministic rules before model order is divided into 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B and 3.

• Academic programme, 50 points: junior/senior subject breadth and access to English-medium subjects, with the highest weight on senior subjects.
• Teaching resources, 35 points: team size, teachers per class, postgraduate qualifications and experience.
• Public-attention proxy, 15 points: median complete daily views are converted to a percentile across eligible schools; a neutral value is used only when no complete daily-view measurement is available. This measures attention only, not sentiment, parent satisfaction, academic outcomes or school quality.
• Student support, campus size and continuity relationships score zero.

The source requested 60 recent days; this release measures 2026-05-17 to 2026-07-14, observed 2026-07-15. 409 schools have complete measurements; 29 have no matched article and 3 have an exact or redirected article without complete daily data. Those last two cases give 32 schools a neutral value.

Public-attention data source

• Wikimedia Foundation Pageviews API · uses aggregate views for exact or redirected articles only; article text and third-party school rankings are not ingested

Public-exam evidence boundary: School-published HKDSE top scorers, IB perfect 45s and legacy HKCEE 10A records are separated by system, year and original definition. Coverage is incomplete, so they do not score; no record does not mean zero.

Republication rights for non-official banding

Schooland and BigExam are external methodology references only. Neither site's school-level values enter the S1Tracker database, finder filters or School structured data, and their direct reference relationship means they are not merged as independent signals.
