Language policy

• The biliterate and trilingual environment provided by the school gives students an advantage of a firm and diverse language basis. • The school adopts English as the medium of instruction for all subjects except the Chinese-related subjects, Chinese History, Visual Arts and Religious Education. For S.1 and S.2, Chinese Language lessons are taught in Putonghua. • Our English teachers communicate with students in English every day. Tuesdays and Fridays are school-wide English-speaking Days, while Thursdays are Putonghua-speaking Days. We strive to create a language-rich environment to nurture students. • The Language Across the Curriculum (LAC) programme advocates the collaboration between Junior Forms of the English Department and other subject departments in areas ranging from enhancing cross-curriculum design to collaborative teaching and exploration of pedagogy. These measures help align students with learning in senior forms. • The Education Bureau invited Sun Kei to participate in the “Professional Development Schools (PDS) Scheme” to share our Chinese and English teaching strategies with other schools. Furthermore, two Native-speaking English Teachers (NETs) have been recruited to enhance the English aura of the school.
